How to Trust Your Intuition and Develop Your Spiritual Gifts

How to Trust Your Intuition and Develop Your Spiritual Gifts

July is a Period of Trust!

Here are some cards that I pulled for the collective from Kyle Grays Divine Master’s Oracle Deck to start this one off!

Djwal Khul says:

With this card, you are being guided to know that your current situation is an opportunity to evolve as a spiritual being having a human experience.Think beyond your current needs and try to see the bigger picture. Be compassionate in your choices and actions, and open to seeing the other person's point of view. Let go of any selfish desires or needs that may not serve you in the long run, for this will help you take more enlightened steps forward. There is a divine mission in your current circumstances. Your spiritual guides are around you at this time and encouraging you to see how far you have come. See that for yourself and understand how you've evolved. You have all it takes to move on and move up. Let go of any fears of loss and limitation-this is just your ego testing your ability to transcend fear. Let your heart lead the way.”

Alright let’s get back to July… many of you may be struggling with confusion, mental loops, or a lack of faith in yourselves—and in Spirit. We may have received some news we don’t like recently, or certain things just haven’t panned out the way we wanted, we also may be feeling a general sense of low. Spirit says this is a time to sit in stillness. No distractions. No feeling guilty that you’re not replying to texts or getting things done. Give yourself permission to just be. Sometimes I just curl up in bed, make myself a good meal, pour a glass of wine, and put on a show for some background noise while I color or let myself get lost in thought. I let everything that’s been on my mind rise to the surface. That’s self-care too! It doesn’t have to include some time consuming ritual, thought it can if that’s what you feel called to do!

I’ll be honest—sometimes I wake up thinking, Okay, let’s get the cash flowing, the content showing, the newsletters glowing, lol. But while I was running errands, Spirit nudged me to just go to the park nearby and lay in the grass. Luckily, I had a beach mat in my car. So here I am—on my mat, channeling this message (and yes, I did actually relax and just exist on the grass after, not just work 😅).

Sometimes, self-care means slowing down and doing nothing. Other times, it means working—just in a softer, more nourishing setting. This newsletter is here to help you trust in those nudges more: in your intuition, your gifts, yourself, and Spirit—to support you through this time. And what better way to do that than by diving into the unseen world?

If you’re someone trying to strengthen your spiritual gifts but find yourself being “wrong” when you try trusting your intuition or are working on developing your gifts—this is for you. First of all, Please don’t be hard on yourself. It’s not easy to hear or to speak with the Divine. Every one of us is allowed to have that connection, but it often requires deep healing, trust, lots of phases of awakening, and many spiritual initiations.

Let’s Talk About Trusting Your Inner Voice

Ever wondered if it’s your intuition speaking, your gifts working…or just hope? Let’s break it down.

Your intuition is a seed planted within you to guide you toward the direction your higher self is calling. It acts as a bridge between your human self and your higher self, which is directly connected to the Divine. Intuition pulls from both the unknown—those illogical nudges you can’t quite explain—and your prior knowledge (logic).

Spiritual gifts on the other hand are different. They’re the ways we directly receive and communicate with Spirit while in our 3D form. The more you heal, understand, and nurture these gifts, the clearer and stronger that channel becomes. Let me explain the image spirit gave me:

Think of your higher self as the translator or “middleman.” As you learn to trust your intuition, your higher self helps interpret messages from Spirit to your human awareness. But as you grow, heal, and deepen your relationship with the Divine, your human self begins to merge with your higher self. Eventually, you don’t need that translation as much—you become the receiver, whereas before your higher self was the main receiver. You remember how to listen. The channel becomes more direct, more clear, and more powerful.

So spiritual gifts are your unique abilities that are tethered to your soul, they have been there in all lifetimes, even before this one. They are abilities that you can develop in any life time or others (if you choose). Not everyone chooses to fully activate these gifts, but everyone has the potential. Spiritual gifts are developed through healing, humility, devotion to Spirit/ your purpose, and not through force.

So How Can We Develop Our Gifts and Intuiton?

We go through stages of awakening and I won’t list them all because that’s not the point of this newsletter. But I’ve got to tangent a little 😂 I want to help you guys understand.

Usually the first stage of awakening is you begin wondering if there’s something more out there. Whats my purpose? What else is out there? Does God exist? The more you question the more you begin breaking through the 3D matrix, realizing there’s so much more to life than what we see and understand.

Then healing begins— your life starts to change, you begin wanting more and better for yourself. Then you begin listening to your intuitive nudges, you start diving into a spiritual practice, reading about spirituality (or religion) more and more.

Then you choose to be more mindful of your purpose and begin really living in your highest self’s purpose (trust me you’d be surprised how many people don’t! Some choose a lower timeline — but it’s okay, this is how the soul learns and evolves through lifetimes until they choose to live their highest timeline).

Anyways, a multitude of initiations happen and your ego starts dissolving layer by layer (there a lot more after and in between)— And trust me, these initiations are not easy. True connection with the Divine isn’t handed to you with ease—it’s remembered, step by step, as you turn your shadows into light.

Your Journey to Remembering

At first when we begin reawakening our gifts we often get too far ahead of ourselves, thinking that just a few days of healing will make us direct channels and messengers for the Divine. That excitement, that eagerness—it’s a beautiful part of the journey. I don’t judge it at all. In fact, I smile—because I remember being in that same place. I remember when I was just starting to awaken to my gifts, and all I wanted was to arrive, to fully tap in, to be “there” already.

What I didn’t realize back then was just how much work it would take to actually get here. Not in a gatekeeping way, but in a real, lived-experience kind of way. The path to deep spiritual connection and intuitive clarity is layered. It’s full of initiations, healing, surrender, and repeated ego deaths. And ego death? Whew—it’s not a one-time thing. It happens in stages, and each one peels back a layer of who you thought you were, so you can remember who you really are.

That remembering process? It’s wild. The best way I can explain this “remembering” I’m talking about is like this: imagine you’ve lost your glasses. They’re buried under a pile of laundry, and you’re tearing apart your room, your car—your whole life—trying to find them. That frantic search? That’s you peeling back layers of trauma, ego, and false beliefs, digging through all the noise and confusion just to get to the truth of who you really are. And eventually, beneath all that mess, you find them. The moment you put them on, the world sharpens. Things still aren’t perfect, but now they’re clear. You feel like yourself again—because you can finally see. So no, you never really lost your glasses. You just had to uncover the layers hiding what was already yours.

But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: once you find your glasses—once you remember your light—that’s not the end of the journey. That’s your initiation and there’s multiple.

Let’s Understand Ego

Becoming a vessel for Spirit is not a final destination, it’s an invitation. It marks the beginning of a deeper walk with the Divine. And the more you surrender to that path, the more your desire to stay close to Spirit grows. It humbles you. It cracks you open again and again. Because real spiritual connection isn’t performative— It deflates your ego; it reshapes it. Yes, your gifts may open, but with them comes a calling to continue shedding, listening, deepening. It’s about being devoted enough to let Spirit keep working on you, over and over again.

Your ego isn’t bad. It’s not something to fight, punish, or shame. In fact, your ego is a part of you that was built to protect you. It formed based on everything you’ve been through—your wounds, your fears, your environment. It’s the part of you that wants to keep you safe, accepted, and in control. So, if you’ve just began trusting yourself or opening your gifts and your ego jumps in and says, “I’ve already got this,” or “I don’t need help—I already know Spirit,” it’s not necessarily trying to deceive you. It’s trying to protect you from the discomfort of vulnerability or the pain of being wrong, rejected, or not “ready yet.”

The tricky thing is that the ego doesn’t always give us the right answers. Sometimes it makes us feel like we’re further along than we are. Not out of arrogance—but out of fear. Fear of not being good enough, of failing, of not having control. So when you find yourself caught in that feeling of “I already know this” or “I’ve arrived,” just take a moment. Gently check in and ask: “Is this truth? Or is this my ego trying to protect me?”

You don’t need to shame your ego. Just reassure it. Tell it, “Hey, I know you’re trying to keep me safe, but we are safe. I’m listening. I’m open. And I’m willing to keep growing.”

The goal isn’t to get rid of your ego—it’s to have a healthy relationship with it. One where it doesn’t run the show, but it also doesn’t get pushed into a corner. Because when ego and spirit can coexist with mutual respect—that’s when real integration begins.

Let’s clear something up: Ego death isn’t about killing your ego. It’s really about shedding the layers that keep your ego rooted in fear, control, and limitation. It’s the death of the false self — the version of you that was shaped by trauma, insecurity, and self-doubt. And from that death? Comes integration.

You don’t destroy your ego — you transmute it. You teach it how to live in alignment with your higher self, not against it. You shift it from fear to faith. From protection to purpose. From noise to discernment. Because a healed ego doesn’t disappear. It becomes a servant to your soul!

Stages of Initiation to the Divine

Imagine a wide field of grass just before a tall mountain. This field is your early awakening. You start to trust your intuition, build confidence, and feel excited. Walking straight in grass is easy right? Then you say, “I want to go deeper.” That’s when the climb up the mountain begins. The mountain is steep. It’s rocky. The path gets unclear. Not everyone will climb it, but heres where the work really begins.

When I first got to that mountain after the lovely green field of grass, I started noticing my intuitive nudges were off. I was approaching a friends house I’d never been to before (they told me to go through the gate when I arrived. We were hanging out in their backyard that day). I started practicing trusting myself around that time and as I approach the house I saw two gates. One on the left and one on the right. I thought to myself “alright let’s practice”, so I asked myself inside (aka my intuition), “Should I go through the left gate or the right gate?” and I felt, “left,” so I walked…only to find the left gate was locked. I was like, “Seriously, Anika? Why were you so off?!” I was disappointed. I did this over and over and over and over with small stuff first, then with bigger stuff.  Sometimes I was wrong, sometimes I was right. Here’s the thing when it comes to being wrong. Over time, I came to understand—these moments of “wrong” are part of the journey to trust. Sometimes you will be guided the wrong way on purpose! Why? To see if you give up or if you continue to push further. Sometimes you will simply hear the wrong answer! Why? Could be ego getting in the way, could be that you need to practice more, could be you were afraid to hear the truth!

When Spirit Goes Quiet…

Sometimes, you’ll hear nothing at all. Spirit will go quiet—and that silence can be one of the hardest tests of all. It’s in these moments that many people give up, wondering, “Spirit, are you still there?”

I remember feeling like I’d lost the connection completely. Some days I’d hear Spirit clearly, other days it was silence. But what I didn’t realize at the time was that the silence was part of the process. It was an initiation—a moment to ask, Will you keep going even when it feels like nothing’s working?

When we first start hearing Spirit, the connection can feel so clear and powerful that we think we’ve “arrived.” It’s exciting—suddenly things click, and we feel like we’re finally tapped in. But often, that initial clarity is part of the initiation. It’s Spirit giving you a taste of what’s possible. And then… silence. Not to punish you, but to test your devotion. To see if you’ll keep showing up when the channel isn’t loud or obvious. Sometimes, that early confidence is really just the ego trying to make sense of a Divine experience. I’ve been there. Spirit has a loving way of reminding you who’s really in charge—not to shame you, but to prepare you. Because if you’re meant to serve with your gifts, Spirit needs to know you’ll use them with humility, not performance. That silence? It’s not a rejection—it’s an invitation into deeper surrender and alignment.

It’s like climbing a mountain blindfolded. You’ll fall. You’ll get scraped. You may even break open. But you’ll grow into someone who can serve with integrity, truth, and devotion.Whatever your gift is—whatever you’re being called to develop—just know this: the climb is worth it. KEEP GOING!

Track your Nudges

I always say to my clients: there’s a lot of truth behind your first thought. And that is true—but part of the journey is learning how to discern whether that first thought is coming from your ego, your intuition, the Divine, or simply your prior knowledge. This is another awakening stage. Another level of trust. Another initiation. And truthfully, this one can take time. Sometimes a long time.

Personally, it’s taken me a long time to learn how to tell the difference between my own thoughts and Spirit’s voice. I spent one whole year meditating Every. Single. Day. (NO JOKE!) — and I still do! So, here’s how I learned to find my center when I wasn’t sure.

Usually, when it’s ego, the outcome feels off. The energy behind it is anxious or noisy. It’s not grounded.

But when it’s your intuitionor Spirit—it often feels still, clear, or even peaceful, even if what you’re hearing doesn’t fully make sense in the moment, or if it’s not what you wanted to hear (these will also feel peaceful).

When it’s a true intuitive nudge or Spirit, there is no anxiety in my body. There’s no frantic questioning or spiraling in mental loops. For example, no “oh shoot I think I heard left … let’s me ask again … ok now it’s right? So is it right or left spirit?! I think it may have been right because I felt the frequency in my ear stronger for right, but what if it was left because that’s what I heard first?”.

You’ve got to just breathe and find stillness, take a few breaths. In these breaths I literally tell myself “okay Divine, I trust you so much and I know that even if it’s not what I want to hear, your unchanging hand is always there to pull me up”. Then I shift my awareness from my mind down to my heart. Literally…bring your thoughts in your head down to your heart! Just visualize it happening— when anxiety softens and self-doubt quiets we allow space for truth to come through.

So first—just start by practicing stillness. You won’t know right away if it’s ego or Spirit, which is why you will be wrong at first (you can also be “wrong” because timelines shift though — different topic lol). Remember that being wrong is apart of the journey to be able to discern where the message is coming from. Keep track of what nudges were right and which were wrong— keep track of how you felt. Over time you’ll start noticing a pattern!

An Example You Can Try

Let’s say you asked Spirit if you were going to pass an exam, get a loan, or whatever the situation was. You felt peaceful and happy afterward and told yourself, “Okay, I think that was a yes.” But then later… it turns out it was a no.

So what happened?

Well, the feelings you wrote down or experienced in that moment could’ve meant a few different things—and this is where radical honesty comes in. You’ve got to be hella real with yourself. Maybe you wanted it to be a yes so badly that you interpreted any sense of calm as confirmation. Maybe you felt confident you were going to pass an exam because you studied hard, so your logic took over. Maybe the timeline shifted. There are so many possibilities.

But here’s the real key: what you want to keep track of are your true feelings underneath it all. Were you genuinely receiving peace from Spirit? Or were you holding onto hope so tightly that you didn’t let yourself feel the discomfort of uncertainty?

Sometimes we don’t even realize we’re bypassing our true emotions because we’re so focused on wanting a specific outcome. And that’s okay—this is part of learning to discern. If you start recording and reflecting on these moments, over time, you’ll begin to recognize a pattern in how you receive truth versus how you interpret desire.

Wait There’s More!

Another part of this journey involves deeper healing—especially now, during this time of stillness and trust. As you read this, I invite you to notice: What thoughts are coming up for you? Why do you feel like you can’t fully trust yourself? Try to trace that feeling back to the root. Get to the core belief beneath it.

Let me give you an example from my own life:

There was a time in my life where I was doing poorly in school. This was my first degree. I had lots going on and the last thing I cared about was school—I would study for exams and think I was going to slay it (albeit only three days before a test … and I hadn’t really been studying throughout the semester). So, I’d go write the test, hoping I’d do well because I did put in some work. I either failed the test or did really bad… so turns out I was wrong— I didn’t slay.

These moments planted multiple seeds of self doubt and low self esteem. over time those seeds grew into massive trees and I developed this self concept  that I couldn’t trust myself. But the real core wound wasn’t “I can’t trust myself.” It was deeper: “I’m not as smart as my classmates. I’m not intelligent enough. I won’t succeed anyways, why put in work?”. That belief stuck with me. It created blocks.

DONT WORRY THOUGH! You can heal your core beliefs and change your self concept ❤️ I’ve healed this one, so that’s the proof!  So I ask you now: What belief is surfacing for you? Write it down. Be radically honest with yourself. Radical honesty is what ego death requires. And just so you know—ego death isn’t a one-time thing. You’ll go through multiple stages of it!

If you know me, by now you know that I can’t write a newsletter without mentioning good old shadow work! Write your beliefs down on a piece of paper, call upon Archangel Michael under the power of the Divine, and ask him to cut any karmic and energetic cords of what you wrote down, speak the things you wrote down out loud, then burn it the paper!

If you’re in a period of stillness right now—maybe feeling uncertain or self-doubting—let the discomfort teach you something. Don’t suppress it. Don’t run from it. Don’t distract. There’s something important in that stillness waiting to be acknowledged and healed.

Why is This Thing SO HARD!!

Remember: July is a period of trust.

Whatever you’re going through right now—whether it’s uncomfortable feelings, setbacks, or things not unfolding the way you hoped—just know there’s a higher plan at work. Spirit is gently guiding you through the life lessons your soul chose to learn. It’s not meant to break you. It’s meant to shape you. I wrote this to help you move through this time with more grace—by learning to trust yourself, your gifts, and the unseen hand that’s always supporting your journey.

You were created by the Divine, which means a part of the Divine’s light is already within you. But carrying that light? Honoring it? That’s a commitment.

This path isn’t easy—because it asks for layers of ego to be shed, for truth to be faced, and for wounds to be healed. You’ll be tested—not because Spirit is cruel, but because Spirit needs to see how you carry the energy. Your ability to guide others spiritually isn’t about what you can see or hear or how cool you sound. It’s not performance. It’s about how you can hold your gifts. Can you stay grounded? Can you stay humble? Can you serve from your heart, not from your ego?

The way to show gratitude for that light is by continuing to heal, to trust, and to practice returning to your truth—again and again. Because what’s waiting for you—what’s always waiting—is you, returning home to yourself.

So don’t give up. If you’re feeling discouraged, just remember—this work isn’t easy, and it’s not supposed to be. But once you come home to yourself, you’ll wish you had started sooner. And you’ll know, deep down, that every step was worth it.

A Final Note:

I hope this has helped you guys and you know I’m not sitting here on my high horse thinking that I’m the most spiritually evolved person out there. Trust me I get tested all the time, and there’s people that have reached and climbed even further up that mountain than I have.

I wanted to share this because one of the requirements that I have walking with the Divine is radical honesty— not only with myself, but with others too. So, if this made you feel like you just took 50 steps backwards —that’s not my intention. My intention was to poke at a layer that needs guidance or further healing. Opening up our spiritual gifts and having a stronger relationship with the Divine is not easy, it’s not supposed to be! But that’s what makes it so incredibly rewarding.

If you feel called, you can book a personal reading with me. I’d love to help you understand your gifts more and to help you uncover what’s already within. Remember to keep trusting, even when it’s hard ❤️
